Meet Josh Guerraz!

Josh Guerraz is a dedicated music educator and accomplished guitarist with over 20 years of teaching experience. Passionate about helping students discover their musical talents, Mr. G creates an engaging and supportive classroom environment
that encourages creativity, collaboration, and lifelong learning. A graduate of Western Connecticut State University, Mr. G studied jazz performance and became an active performer and private guitar instructor. With a nudge from his wife, he
continued his education studies and Graduate Degree at Anderson University. Mr. G started teaching in Belchertown in the fall of 2007 at Chestnut Hill Community School for the next 15 years.

While at CHCS, Mr. G helped to build the music and choir program by starting individual groups in 4-6 grade. In collaboration with fellow teacher Steve Walkowicz, they both created five original musicals for CHCS, involving hundreds of students over the years. In 2022, Mr. G moved up to BHS to teach choirs and music electives such as: History of Rock and Roll, Music in Film,
Beginning/Intermediate Guitar, and Intro to Piano. In addition to his teaching schedule, he continued opportunities for students by directing the annual school musical with Mrs. Leighton, and is the director of the BHS Jazz Ensemble.

A proficient guitar player, Mr. G brings a wealth of performance experience and a deep understanding of music theory to every lesson and ensemble. He has taught a wide range of musical styles—including classical, jazz, rock, and folk—while emphasizing both technical skill and artistic expression.

Throughout his career in Belchertown, Mr. G has inspired countless students to develop confidence, discipline, and a lasting appreciation for music. Whether leading an ensemble, teaching guitar, or guiding students in music fundamentals,
he is committed to helping every learner reach their full potential.

About the BBB

Belchertown Music Boosters is a 501(c) (301) comprised of volunteers who are parents and friends of the band, choir and general music students in the Belchertown Public Schools.

Who do we support?

We support the many and varied band, choir and music classes and activities by fundraising, organizing, and chaperoning events for grades K-12.

Where does the money raised go?

The funds we raise are allocated directly to the bands and choirs to support various initiatives, including awards, receptions, instrument lesson subsidies, summer music camp tuition, field trips, music clinics, uniforms, and college scholarships. Recently, we contributed to the purchase of brand new marching percussion instruments for the high school and harnesses for the middle school.

Belchertown Band Boosters, Inc. (BBB) is a 501 (c) (3) comprised of volunteers who are parents and friends of the band, chorus and general music students in the public schools of Belchertown, MA. We support the many and varied classes and activities by fundraising, organizing and chaperoning events.

The money we raise goes directly to the bands and choruses to assist with such things as instrument lesson subsidies,

tuition for summer music camps, student awards and banquets, field trips, music clinics, uniforms, and college scholarships.

We are very proud of our award-winning band and chorus students, which has become a point of pride within our community and the region.

Our students’ involvement in music extends outside of the classroom. Current students participate in festivals, community bands, and orchestras throughout Western Massachusetts. Many of the high school students are members of the Tri-M Honors Society giving back to the community and schools by promoting music education at the younger grades and assisting with youth concerts, statewide and district festivals as well as town events. Countless Belchertown graduates have majored in music in college and then continue on into the music industry professionally, many as music educators. The BBB is excited and honored to be able to support music in our schools in a time when many school systems are facing major budget cuts and often cannot afford to fund fine arts.
